Circular and affordable living in Wormerveer
September 25, 2025Parteon and NICE Developers jointly NICE Developers approximately 100 lifetime-proof timber-frame homes in Wormerveer.
We are proud to announce that housing association Parteon and NICE Developers have entered into NICE Developers partnership for a unique residential project in the Zeeheldenbuurt-Zuid neighborhood in Wormerveer — and it will be built entirely of wood! The project comprises approximately 100 homes, 60% of which will be social housing and the remainder mid-range rental properties. This is a significant step forward in realizing our shared ambition: sustainable, future-proof construction with a focus on people and the environment.
Longer independent living at home
The homes are being developed to be fully life-cycle-proof, with the aim that residents can continue to live independently at home for longer. Through smart designs and well-considered layouts, the homes can adapt to changing living needs.
Sustainable timber construction
Timber construction plays a central role in this development. It is not only a renewable resource but also a proven method to drastically reduce CO₂ emissions in construction. For both Parteon and NICE, this is a conscious choice that perfectly aligns with our vision for circular and climate-conscious development.
“We look forward to collaborating with NICE on this excellent and sustainable project. This partnership feels like a natural match: ambitious, innovative, and forward-looking. By focusing on life-cycle-proof homes, we contribute to the long-term well-being of residents.”

Flexibility and living quality
The project extends beyond just material selection. Thanks to the flexible timber construction method, the layout of the homes can be adapted in the future to changing living preferences. Furthermore, significant attention is given to communal spaces and meeting areas, which foster connection with the neighborhood and contribute to a vibrant community. Living quality is also central: ample natural light, high-quality outdoor spaces, and a well-considered flow ensure a pleasant living environment for all ages. Additionally, it is our ambition to develop the building to be nature-inclusive, so that it makes a visible contribution to biodiversity in the neighborhood.
“With Parteon, we are taking a significant step in scaling up circular timber construction: this benefits the climate through CO₂ sequestration, and society through the addition of affordable, life-cycle-proof homes. This project demonstrates how social housing and sustainability can go hand in hand.”

Over the coming months, we will collaborate on the preliminary design. We expect to be able to present this by the end of this year. Want to stay informed about the project? Keep an eye on our project page.
