NICE reports - Anne Koning
May 21, 2024Recently we had the honor of welcoming deputy Anne Koning to SAWA Rotterdam. Anne Koning, responsible for Housing, Spatial Planning, Recreation, Tourism and Sports at the Province of South Holland, visited the construction site of SAWA. She was accompanied by Irma Kenter, Director of Accessibility & Housing at the Province. During the visit, Robert and Mark gave a tour of the construction site together with main contractor René. They explained and showed how wood construction can be successfully used in large and tall buildings. This is no longer a vision of the future, but a reality that is both technically and financially feasible.
In this new episode of NICE Reports, Mark and Anne Koning discuss the working visit. They highlight why bio-based building offers a solution to the current housing challenge and how the Province of South Holland is actively encouraging this bio-based building for a healthy future.

"We are learning from projects like SAWA. If we want to build the homes of the future, it starts with the projects that are on the drawing boards now. As South Holland, we want wood construction, easier, feasible and affordable, and we are happy to help with that. This is how we build a powerful South Holland together."
Delegate to the Province of South Holland, Anne Koning
About NICE Reports
In NICE Reports, our NICE guys, Mark and Robert, go out as reporters to interview professionals and experts on specific topics around timber construction, circularity and (nature) inclusivity, among others. They ask concise, targeted questions about how these experts, these "NICE people," view the topic at hand: what their point of view is, what they themselves contribute to it and how they see the current market situation and future.
