From Opportunities to Challenges: Why Timber Construction is the Path to CO22-Neutral Construction

On October 24, NPO2 aired a special episode of NTR's science program Focus: "Building with wood." This episode highlights the opportunities, challenges, and urgency of wood construction—a topic we at NICE Developers deal with on a NICE Developers basis.

In this episode, Mark Compeer and Robert Winkel share their vision on timber construction. SAWA, developed by NICE in collaboration with ERA Contour, is extensively highlighted as the prime example of how we must build more in the future if we aim to reduce CO2 aim to reduce emissions and by 2050 be CO2 2-neutral.
There are also contributions from experts such as timber construction expert Pablo van der Lugt and Professor of European Forests Gert-Jan Nabuurs, who delve into the sustainability and supply of timber. You are taken to the construction site and hear how passionate Faisel, one of the builders from ERA is. And you get a glimpse into the factory of Derix, SAWA's timber supplier. Naturally, important topics such as fire safety and the use of circular materials are also addressed.

It has become an engaging and relevant broadcast for anyone interested in sustainable building innovations and the future of timber construction.
