Start of sales SAWA

Nov. 10, 2021

The sale of the 39 condominiums in the SAWA housing project has started. A milestone in the realization of the first 50-meter-high wooden residential building in Rotterdam. Preparatory work will start early next year.

SAWA is located in the Lloyd Quarter in Rotterdam. The housing project contains 39 owner-occupied apartments, 50 mid-lease apartments and 20 free-sector rental apartments. In addition to housing, the building provides space for all kinds of facilities. For example, on the first floor there will be space for a social facility, restaurants and a parking facility with space for electric (shared) cars and bicycles.

Diverse housing types and generous outdoor spaces

The homes for sale in SAWA can be divided into several types of homes: deck homes, balcony homes, terrace homes and penthouses. The surface areas vary between 51 and 165 square meters. Both the columns, beams and ceiling are made of wood. What the homes have in common is the warm atmosphere they exude through the use of wood. All homes have large outdoor spaces with carefully selected plants and a wide view over the water or the Lloydkwartier or the city of Rotterdam.

Interested parties can now register for a home for sale through SAWA's website. Registration closes on Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2021.

Healthiest building in the Netherlands

The future residents of SAWA will soon live in the first wooden residential building over 50 meters high in Rotterdam. And the healthiest. Building with wood is better for the environment and creates a nice living atmosphere. The common deck is the green heart of SAWA, with vegetable garden boxes and sparrows. It is a place to play outside, read a book among the herb plants and for spontaneous neighborly drinks in the evening sun.

Timber and space for biodiversity

SAWA is a revolutionary development in many ways. For example, the main load-bearing structure consists largely of CLT (cross laminated timber) and concrete is avoided in the floors. SAWA is characterized by its generous green terraces. A team of biologists and ecologists developed a green plan for SAWA with a selection of plants to encourage biodiversity in the city. SAWA features green and flowering plantings throughout the year. There is also no shortage of wildlife in SAWA. The nesting boxes in the facades and on the deck are fine habitats for birds, butterflies and bees.
